The world of comics owes much to Argentina, whose comics school has consistently and consistently produced incredible masters capable of revolutionizing the medium.
Lisandro Estherren, Argentine by birth but Italian by adoption, fully represents this school and, as only great artists can, has established himself with a personal style, inherited from his predecessors yet unique and distinctive.
The exhibition “Un Oscuro Sueño Fluvial: El Arte de Lisandro Estherren” follows the Argentine cartoonist’s artistic journey through the major series he worked on for the US market, culminating in a special project for future publication in Argentina inspired by a song by musical legend Isaco Abitbol. Chosen by DC Comics as one of the leading artists for the Sandman Universe on titles such as “Hellblazer: Dead in America” and “Sandman Universe: Nightmare Country” (for writing by rising stars Si Spurrier and James Tynion IV) as well as independent series such as “Redneck” (by Donnie Cates) and “Be Not Afraid” (by Jude Ellison S. Doyle), Lisandro Estherren has developed a distinctive artistic style that culminates in an experimental blend of techniques, including pencil, ink, watercolor, and even pen and correction fluid.
CArt Gallery is proud to collaborate with one of the most fascinating artistic voices of recent years, dedicating him to an exhibition that we are sure will thrill fans: each original work on display represents a unique visual experience, a figurative engagement entirely different from that perceived on the published page. A journey between the dreamlike and the horrific, the magical and the fantastic, through the eyes and sensibility of a unique artist capable of transporting the reader to other worlds, other times… into the realms of dreams.
At the opening on Saturday, April 11th, starting at 5:00 pm, CArt Gallery will host the artist, who will meet with a public of enthusiasts.
A catalog has been created for this exhibition, available in two editions: standard and deluxe, and can be purchased in our website shop.
